ECP : Fish Behavioral Ecology

ECP : Fish Behavioral Ecology

Introduction

The aim of the ECP (Ecologie Comportementale des Poissons - Fish Behavioral Ecology) system is to provide services for experimentation at several scales of investigation, essentially from the individual to the population in aquatic ecosystems. Its major originality lies in its ability to implement services for research into the ecology of running-water aquatic environments. The possibilities cover a gradient ranging from totally controlled experimentation on an individual scale (aquatic organisms, mainly fish) and on short time steps (up to several weeks), to experimentation on the aquatic ecosystem and its communities, on long time scales (seasons, year).

ECP integrates two experimental platforms, an Experimental Technical Platform and the Lapitxuri, which are mesosomes that enable work to be carried out in running water systems, as well as facilities and related tools. In addition, a workshop dedicated to sclerochronology can be used to support experiments.

Proposed services

  • Custom experimental services in enclosed environment

Detailed service offer

  • An Experimental Technical Platform (ETP) dedicated to experiments in controlled environments to study the behavior, physiology and life traits of aquatic organisms;
  • The Lapitxuri site (LAP) enables experiments on organisms and ecosystems in a semi-natural environment;
  • A sclerochronology laboratory to support experimental services.
